PICK OF THE LITTER Meet a new standout puppy from the Canine Partners of the Rockies Puppy Program “HAYLEE”Meet Haylee, a Canine Partners of the Rockies puppy in-training. Haylee is a very sweet and smart little girl. She loves many types of toys and plays many different games with her toys like “find it” and tug. She is learning some service dog talents along with her play. Haylee tugs open doors, tugs off socks, turns on lights, and retrieves her metal food bowl to the kitchen sink when it is meal time. Haylee routinely brings in the newspaper – even the heavy Sunday paper. Barb, Haylee’s puppy raiser is pretty tricky having her learn these things without her even knowing she is working – it’s all play to Haylee. Haylee is living with Chivay, Barb’s pet dog and they have added a new puppy recently to the mix, Isabella (from the “I” litter). Isa is being raised by Barb temporarily until she finds a permanent puppy raiser (interested?). All three dogs are enjoying life in Barb’s household. Haylee has a habit of chopping her mouth open and closed when she gets excited, a trait she inherited from her dad, Jammer (along with his black color). Thank goodness this isn’t a trait to worry about in a service dog just an interesting part of her personality (sibling from litter “I” – Ike has this habit also – but while he is sleeping). Our puppies become an important part of the puppy raiser’s family – even a part of their family Christmas card. Our dogs are greatly loved and when they head off to do their service work – yes we have tears but are very happy they can help someone live a more independent life.
