PICK OF THE LITTER Meet a new standout puppy from the Canine Partners of the Rockies Puppy Program “GROVER”Grover is a very handsome 12 month old Golden Retriever puppy in the Canine Partners of the Rockies Service Dog Program. He was 16 weeks old when he started his training. Grover gets his name after a tiny town in Northern Colorado. Grover is being raised by Tia, David and their son Caleb. They enjoy riding horses and attending horse events so Grover is getting well versed about how to act around large animals as well as how to be a good audience member (see photo below). Living close to downtown Denver, Grover visits many nearby restaurants and shops which is really important as a puppy so he gets use to many environments and situations. CaPR wants their service dogs to be familiar with as many different environments as possible. Grover is also at an accounting firm during the work week where he must behave in a professional manner. Grover loves to be brushed and get baths – he gets into the bathtub on command. Since service dogs are in public, they must be groomed often so it is definitely a plus that Grover enjoys his bath time. He loves to give hugs too – but yet again he is a Golden Retriever. Grover even hugs a television celebrity that he meets at the mall. Grover LOVES the snow. He would roll and run in the snow all day long if you let him. He also loves greenies and will run and leap into his kennel if he knows a greenie is coming. All service dogs in our program must enjoy their kennels and go into the kennel on command. It’s their “doggie condo”. Grover does love many things – however, the family cat, Kiko, is not loved by Grover, Grover is scared of Kiko and he stays away from the little cat as much as possible.
