Canine Partners of the Rockies Puppy Training Exercises The week of November 3rd through November 10th was “Puppy Exchange” Week at Canine Partners of the Rockies. The Puppy Raisers drew a puppy name out of a hat and they took that puppy for a week (of course if you drew your own puppy’s name, you drew again). “Puppy Exchange” Week gives both the puppy and the Puppy Raiser new experiences. 1. Ingrid is ready to start her temporary position at the Hyatt Accounting Office. She is replacing Ignacio (Nacho) for the week. Ingrid rode the bus to work every day, had a fire drill (see below), learned to play with several pet dogs at Denises’ home, and went to several appointments during her exchange week. 2. Nacho went to exercise class for the first time with his temporary Puppy Raiser, Micki. He wasn’t quite sure about the loud music, all the fitness equipment and the students jumping around. But after watching for 30 minutes, he decided all was good and took a nap on his yoga mat. When he attended class the second time that week – he went directly to his mat and settled nicely. It is great to see how our dogs adjust to new situations so easily. After Nacho got back home to his permanent Puppy Raiser, Denise, he celebrated by going bowling with the Hyatt Accounting Department. Nacho actually fell asleep during all the bowling commotion. Nacho and Dezi, Denise’s pet dog, getting “professional” baths. Nacho accepted the blow dryer without a blink of an eye. What a handsome young man. Nacho and Jenny going out for dinner with their Puppy Raisers – who are actually related. Jenny is doing a really good job about waiting under the table. Nacho is being curious about his Puppy Raiser, who is taking the photo.
