MEET DENISE, PUPPY RAISER OF SERVICE DOG IN TRAINING YAMPA
“Being Yampa’s puppy raiser for Canine Partners of the Rockies has brought many opportunities. As a Montessori teacher working with 3-6 year olds I see the many benefits raising a service dog brings to the community.
Developing independence in children is a primary goal of my classroom environment. The children are learning how Yampa helps someone that is confronted with obstacles to have independence. Yampa has brought an awareness of differences, building tolerance, understanding and compassion for others to our community.

Yampa is a wonderful classmate and companion. He loves to learn, tries hard and has affection for his people. He shows the children that with practice and time comes growth. Yampa brings a calm joy to the classroom. Working with Canine Partners has been a win, win, win in every way. As Yampa is the first dog I have raised, I look forward to the culmination of our work and the gift of seeing him bring Independence to his new partner. I am anticipating happy tears and a very full heart.”
